The racing community is mourning the loss of Chris \u201cBlock\u201d Gordon, owner and racer for Block Motorsports and\u00a0team leader for South Carolina on \u201cStreet Outlaws: Fastest in America,\u201d following a crash Saturday evening at KD Motorsports Park in South Webster, Ohio.<\/p>\n
According to WSAZ, the crash occurred around 8:05 p.m. Saturday, when the South Webster-Bloom Township Fire Department was called to the track. Emergency crews arrived within minutes, along with EMTs, trained medical personnel, and KD Motorsports Park staff.<\/p>\n
Gordon was transported to a hospital following the crash, where he later died from his injuries. KD Motorsports Park confirmed Gordon\u2019s death in a statement shared on social media, describing him as a \u201cgood man\u201d and \u201can absolute legend of our sport.\u201d<\/p>\n
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation. Officials have not determined what caused Gordon to lose control, and investigators are considering multiple possibilities, including a potential mechanical issue.<\/p>\n
Jay Stewart, assistant fire chief for the South Webster-Bloom Township Fire Department, emphasized the seriousness of the incident and the rapid response from emergency personnel.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis was not just a drag car hitting a wall and the driver is getting out,\u201d Stewart told WSAZ. \u201cIt\u2019s more serious.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Scioto County Sheriff\u2019s Office is investigating the crash. KD Motorsports Park has not released additional details about the incident, saying the facility was not yet comfortable speaking publicly about the crash.<\/p>\n
