In the late \u201960s, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Ford Motor Company<\/span><\/span> was battling Chrysler\u2019s Hemi dominance, so they developed the Boss 429 specifically for NASCAR competition. Because of homologation rules, Ford had to sell it to the public, which led to the creation of the Boss 429 Mustang.
