Chevrolet has officially released N\u00fcrburgring lap times for the upcoming Corvette ZR1X and ZR1, establishing them as the two fastest American production sports cars ever to lap the legendary 12.9-mile Nordschleife. With blistering times of 6:49.275 for the hybrid AWD ZR1X and 6:50.763 for the twin-turbo RWD ZR1, both models not only surpassed the Ford Mustang GTD, but now rank among the quickest production cars in N\u00fcrburgring history\u2014regardless of origin. These results were achieved without professional drivers, using GM\u2019s in-house development engineers, further underscoring the capability and accessibility of Chevrolet\u2019s next-generation performance lineup.<\/p>\n

    The thing that may blow some minds is that GM engineers completed all laps…not professional drivers and granted, they aren’t novices, but still.\u00a0 The GM Engineers used pre-production models with performance packages and factory-spec components, aside from minor safety modifications. These laps were conducted on the full official 20.8 km layout of the N\u00fcrburgring, with confirmation from the track\u2019s timing authorities. GM engineers piloted all three vehicles \u2014 Drew Cattell (ZR1X), Brian Wallace (ZR1), and Aaron Link (Z06) \u2014 each with hundreds of Ring laps and years of development experience under their belts. Together, they\u2019ve tested GM vehicles at the N\u00fcrburgring across 31 trips and a combined 36 years of engineering.<\/p>\n
