Some of the rumors sound terrifying and some sound too good to be true (depending on your perspective). To help, SEMA put together a guide for the aftermarket of what’s happening, what may happen and how drivers, builders, manufacturers and enthusiasts can navigate the changing legislative landscape. Here are a few highlights:

1. EV mandate rollbacks DO NOT mean that defeat devices used to skirt emissions laws are allowed and/or will not be enforced against by the EPA.

2. The EPA (Environment Protection Agency) has not been disbanded, although under this administration it is rolling back regulations and rules related to environmental impact.

3. The future of EV mandates are in flux. While the administration is examining federal mandates and regulations, California is still moving ahead with its regulations and the state continues to working on ending the sales of new internal combustion engine (ICE) within the next decade.

“At SEMA, it’s our job to pay attention, and those efforts in Washington, D.C., and in states nationwide free our businesses up to do what they do best: run their business, work on their car, explore a new trail. This is another case of us noticing when bad information started popping up, and it is our obligation to set the record straight for our member, the industry, and automotive enthusiasts – especially when it comes to misinformation that could cause individuals and their businesses to run afoul of the law and potentially face enforcement actions by the EPA and other federal agencies.” says Karen Bailey-Chapman, SEMA’s senior vice president for public and government affairs.

To read SEMA’s full Fact Sheet, go HERE: HERE’S THE TRUTH ABOUT EMISSIONS RESTRICTIONS, THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION, AND HOW JUST ONE PERSON CAN RUIN ALL OUR FUN

SEMA sets out to dispel rumors and clarify some truths surrounding the current Trump administrations actions on EV mandates, defeat devices and more.

{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[3470
11730,156
post-100377","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-emissions","tag-sema
["GET
