Unveiling of Gateway Bronco’s Remastered Vintage Ford Bronco at Monterey Collector Car Week

Gateway Bronco  has unveiled a groundbreaking advancement in the realm of Sport SUVs with the introduction of their next-generation model, the LUXE-GT™. The project, originally named “Pegasus,” was developed in secrecy at a Skunk Works facility located in Melbourne, Australia, before being revealed in Monterey, California, during Car Week. This innovative SUV, built upon the foundation of the classic Ford Bronco, boasts a novel contemporary chassis crafted by an international team. Its performance rivals that of top-tier sport SUVs worldwide and has garnered 10 patents, both pending and granted. The remarkable blend of performance, safety, and driving pleasure offered by this new SUV is propelling the vintage Bronco market to new heights.

Seth Burgett, CEO of Gateway Bronco, commented on the development, stating, “Our development team’s mission was to create the ultimate vintage Ford Bronco, and after four years of extensive research and substantial investments in development, we not only achieved that goal but exceeded it.” He added, “We’ve emerged on the global stage with a vintage Ford Bronco that delivers performance on par with the world’s best sport SUVs.”

Burgett elaborated on “Project Pegasus,” describing how the vintage Ford Bronco was reimagined while preserving its classic essence, yet elevated to contemporary standards through cutting-edge technology and safety features. The SUV is powered by a dependable Ford 5.0-liter engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The meticulously designed interior has received such attention to detail that it has resulted in the application of 10 patents to safeguard its unique design. This vehicle achieves several industry firsts for a vintage Ford Bronco, including anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, electronic traction control, and all-time all-wheel drive. The LUXE-GT, created by Gateway Bronco, aims to provide exceptional road performance, drawing comparisons to the likes of Porsche GT3 in the sport SUV category—a true remastered vintage Ford Bronco.

Gateway Bronco has established itself as a premier vintage Bronco builder over the past seven years, boasting milestones such as being the first manufacturer of vintage Ford Broncos officially licensed by Ford Motor Company. The company’s achievements also extend to breaking the world record for the highest-priced Bronco sold at auction, reaching a staggering $650,000.

Burgett’s vision for a remastered vintage Ford Bronco that delivers an unparalleled driving experience has come to fruition through a collaboration with an international team. This team included key players like OEM vehicle designer and low-volume auto manufacturer Premcar, Ltd in Australia, renowned racing and development driver Billy Johnson from California, and ISO 9000 manufacturing center RLE International in Michigan. The LUXE-GT’s starting manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) stands at $400,000, and its performance positions it competitively against elite sport SUVs, rivalling those popularized by brands such as Range Rover, Mercedes, and Porsche.

The remastered vintage Ford Bronco, built on an entirely new chassis, boasts a range of features:

According to Burgett, “The concept for the new LUXE-GT was born during a camping expedition in Glacier National Park of Montana, matured at the Skunk Works engineering facility in Melbourne, Australia, and was finally unveiled in Monterey, California.” He emphasized that the SUV, which is ready to conquer global roads, was rigorously tested across the Australian Outback, attaining speeds of up to 120 mph under the most challenging conditions.

While the LUXE-GT retains the nostalgic styling of the vintage Bronco, its outward appearance conceals a wealth of modern enhancements. The body structure has been reinforced for added strength and a lower center of gravity. The ladder frame boasts a 70 percent increase in stiffness compared to popular aftermarket frames, ensuring enhanced rigidity. This fortified frame allows for advanced front and rear crush zones. The LUXE-GT’s exterior is adorned with a Glasurit Piano Finish by BASF, lending it a lustrous European-style gloss.

Underneath its exterior, every aspect of the vehicle has undergone modernization, resulting in ten patents either pending or granted. This level of performance is achievable due to a completely revamped chassis that is significantly sturdier than the original Bronco, combined with independent suspension, electronic stability control, and anti-lock brakes. Safety considerations were integral throughout the design process, influencing elements such as the fuel tank placement and ride height.

The powertrain incorporates the proven high-performance 5.0-liter Ford Coyote V8 engine coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission and full-time all-wheel drive. True to its LUXE-GT label, it accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 5.3 seconds. Braking capabilities are equally impressive, with a 60 mph to 0 stop achieved in only 148 feet, in contrast to the 180+ feet required by most vintage Broncos lacking an ABS braking system.

Prospective LUXE-GT buyers have the opportunity to customize their vehicle to align with their personal style through the newly introduced 3D configurator and a dedicated design team assigned to each project. Among the available options is the “Big Sur Love” package, part of the Ombré Design by Katy line, featuring distinctive gradient stripes in various colors and patterns. This unique design is protected by patents to ensure exclusivity for Gateway Bronco clients.

Burgett concluded, “The meticulously handcrafted LUXE-GT made its public debut at Monterey Car Week, and we’ve already received orders.” He emphasized that this investment-grade vehicle seamlessly blends family-oriented safety with sport performance. With an annual production limited to only 25 units, the LUXE-GT stands as a rare and exclusive offering, with 12 orders already secured.

Production of the SUV was carried out at Gateway Bronco’s state-of-the-art 60,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Hamel, Illinois. This vertically integrated facility encompasses tasks ranging from metal fabrication to paint and final assembly. With a commitment to quality and sustainability, the facility is set to transition to full solar power in 2024, reflecting the founder’s dedication to enhancing the quality of life for others.
