Turning a C8 Corvette into a Drift Car
Turning a flood damaged C8 Corvette into a manual transmission drift car is just one of stories that came out of PRI 2024.
Matt Field knows drifting. The Formula Drift driver and builder has been leading the sport since 2009, driving BMWs, Nissans and most recently a Borla Performance GT Radial Heat Wave Visual Leen Customs C6 Corvette for Team Drift Cave. But he was at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) 2024 show to share a different drift build with fans of racing, performance and motorsports — a C8 Corvette that was about to take a trip to dyno to see what’s going to happening next.
This wild build started out as a flood victim from Florida that Field got at auction and is currently in the process of being turned into a drifting machine. Selling off parts and panels initially helped pay for some of the modifications which also include an LS-based engine that is really more a hat tip to the LS than anything else at this point making 1012 HP naturally aspirated at the crank, a Borla exhaust built for the vehicle, a brand new front end, a customized Weddle S5 sequential five-speed and 65 degrees of steering angle.
And it’s not done yet. RacingJunk spoke to Field in the Borla Exhaust booth at the PRI Show about the car, next steps and more. Check the video out below.
