Powersports encompasses motorcycles, UTV/ATVs, snowmobiles and boats. As such, the category contains a wider variety of product types than the performance products categories at which RacingJunk has already looked. Winner of the 2018 Best Powersports Product is the VRX 45-S from Warn Industries, while the Runners-Up are the Race Sport Lighting Voltage Gauge Display and Power Vision from Dynojet Research. RacingJunk Honorable Mention shout-outs go to King Shocks for their 3.0 and 3.5 Inch Swivel End Cap Bypass Shocks and Full River Battery for their Full Throttle Battery line of UTV/SxS batteries.
The Warn Industries VRX 45-S Winch is a UTV/side-by-side winch with a rated line pull of 4500 lbs from its 12 VDC IP68 waterproof permanent magnet motor. All fasteners are stainless steel and the geartrain is a 3-stage planetary, with the new clutch design based on WARN 4WD hub lock know-how for durability and strength. The VRX 45-S comes with a control that mounts on the dash as well as a corded remote.
Race Sport Lighting earned its second New Product award in three years from the SEMA judges for its Voltage Gauge Display (RSVGD), which allows you to monitor your vehicle’s accessories and auxiliary lighting. The “LED gauge look” for which many are looking is brought about by using socket-sized meters with recessed RSL diodes with digital LCD gauges. The RSVGD comes with part numbers RS50786, RS50888, RS50798, RS50782, RS507971B, RS4010W, RS3HRP, RS2HRP and RS1HHRP.
Dynojet Research says its Power Vision flash tuner is the “most powerful and quickest flash tuning device for Harley-Davidson® motorcycles on the market today.” The tuner works on any HD bike with the Delphi ECM, up to and including 2018 models. Flashing the ECM is as easy as connecting the device, selecting the tune to use and following the onscreen prompts to download the new tune to your bike’s ECM. Once the tune is downloaded, you can view and tweak the maps to get the precise tune you want. They also have their WinPV software for editing your bike’s tune on your computer.
RacingJunk has awarded one of our two Honorable Mention slots to King Shocks for their 3.5- and 4.5-inch bypass shocks. From materials to constructions methods, King Shocks has been a stickler for quality and precision with these shocks with tolerances down to +/- .001 inch. Threaded endcaps are used on fluid reservoirs to withstand higher pressures and make maintenance easier to accomplish. A Teflon bronze wear band made from the same material used on the beds and ways of precision CNC machines supports the piston, while o-ring seals are made from Viton, a material used in the aerospace industry for its temperature resistance.
Fullriver Battery showed its new Full Throttle line of AGM (absorbent glass mat) batteries for UTVs and side-by-sides. Fullriver calls these batteries “the perfect upgrade for a SxS/UTV.” Fullriver says the Full Throttle battery line gives superior shock and vibration performance because of their design and construction techniques, which include using TPPL pure lead technology to provide “virgin pure” lead plates and brass terminals for strength and corrosion resistance.
