S&W Performance Group Officially Calls it Quits

The announcement on the homepage of S&W Racecars homepage says it all, “We regretfully inform everyone that S&W Racecars will be going out of business, please refer to our social media pages for a full explanation and look at our homepage for our final inventory sale to stock up on future parts. All parts will be 40% off (discount applied at checkout).”

For the past few years, loyal customers and fans of the drag racing brand have been holding their breath after long wait times, limited communication and delayed customer support became more and more common, all of which was unusual from the company that has been around since 1959 out of Spring City, PA.  Posting an explanation on Facebook in October 2025, S&W cited the sudden exodus of several key staff members, resulting operational issues and key discoveries of outdated software and billing programs.  It was clear that there was more going on, but the community held its breath, even as Liberty Race Cars and Fabrication (started by former S&W employees) launched soon after.

Yesterday, a new missive was posted which announced the shutdown with an explanation: “Over the past four years, S&W underwent a change in ownership and began a large-scale effort to modernize operations… These efforts did result in meaningful improvements, but they also introduced unforeseen complications…What initially appeared to be isolated fulfillment errors and delayed orders gradually revealed deeper internal challenges that compounded over time. Differences in vision on how to move forward, whether to revert to traditional processes or continue modernizing, further strained internal operations and ultimately led to key employee resignations. ”

The message also goes on to level accusations at two of the former employees mentioned previously: “When the day came for these two employees to officially resign, they then proceeded to steal hundreds of drawings, contacts, machine programming files, and other media for the use of populating their own catalog which they then launched under the name Liberty Race Cars and Fabrication.”

Growth often brings change, and it seems that in the case of S&W Performance Group, the growing pains also revealed a difference in vision along with challenges in the actual production at a larger scale.  S&W has been a household name in drag racing for decades, particularly on the East Coast, and the loss will be felt among many. They are honoring current pending orders and cancellations, while also putting up inventory at 40% off.
