During the recent SpeedTour All-Star Race weekend at Lime Rock Park, racing legend Skip Barber was awarded the prestigious Parella Motorsports Holdings (PMH) Trailblazer Award. This accolade is bestowed upon individuals who have made a profound and enduring impact in the motorsports arena.

Skip Barber’s illustrious career boasts three SCCA National Championships and participation in six Formula 1 races during the early 1970s. In 1975, Barber channeled his passion for racing into education, founding the Skip Barber Racing School with just four students and two borrowed Formula Fords. Since then, the school has trained over 400,000 students, many of whom have advanced to prominent motorsport series including NASCAR, INDYCAR, SCCA, and IMSA.

In 1983, Barber spearheaded a group of investors to acquire Lime Rock Park from Harry Theodoracopulous, later becoming the sole owner. Although he sold the track in 2021, Barber remains a significant shareholder and an active member of the track’s management team.

Tony Parella, Founder and CEO of PMH, expressed his admiration for Barber’s contributions, stating, “It’s an honor to recognize Skip Barber with the PMH Trailblazer Award. We established this award to acknowledge individuals who challenge the status quo and create opportunities for others. Over his nearly seven-decade career, Skip has exemplified these qualities.”

Skip Barber’s legacy in motorsports is marked by his relentless pursuit of excellence and his dedication to fostering new talent, making him a true trailblazer in the industry.
