Racer Chris “Block” Gordon Passes away Following Crash at KD Motorsports Park
The racing community is mourning the loss of Chris “Block” Gordon, owner and racer for Block Motorsports and team leader for South Carolina on “Street Outlaws: Fastest in America,” following a crash Saturday evening at KD Motorsports Park in South Webster, Ohio.
According to WSAZ, the crash occurred around 8:05 p.m. Saturday, when the South Webster-Bloom Township Fire Department was called to the track. Emergency crews arrived within minutes, along with EMTs, trained medical personnel, and KD Motorsports Park staff.
Gordon was transported to a hospital following the crash, where he later died from his injuries. KD Motorsports Park confirmed Gordon’s death in a statement shared on social media, describing him as a “good man” and “an absolute legend of our sport.”
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation. Officials have not determined what caused Gordon to lose control, and investigators are considering multiple possibilities, including a potential mechanical issue.
Jay Stewart, assistant fire chief for the South Webster-Bloom Township Fire Department, emphasized the seriousness of the incident and the rapid response from emergency personnel.
“This was not just a drag car hitting a wall and the driver is getting out,” Stewart told WSAZ. “It’s more serious.”
The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash. KD Motorsports Park has not released additional details about the incident, saying the facility was not yet comfortable speaking publicly about the crash.
