Here you see her posing with Daniel (of Voodoo Disciples cc)’s 1929 Ford Model A, TWEETY - one of our favorite classics of all time. Photography by the astute Shane Karns at Tonya Kay’s Pinup Pole Show. Let’s talk to Daniel about the joys and challenges of owning his antique car! TONYA KAY: What was one of the most frustrating fixes on Tweety? DANIEL: The most frustrating fix on Tweety... Tweety has been super reliable since I’ve had her. I’ve had a fuel pump go out once. Recently, actually, on the last cruise, Tweety overheated a bit... I realized my li'l electric fan had worn out and wasn’t pulling much air through. I beefed up the fan and replaced the coolant with waterless coolant, and she hasn’t broke more than 180 degrees since. But I think the most frustrating thing I’ve had to deal with is the DMV. I went to the DMV so often all the clerks started recognizing me - "Yellow hotrod?" "Yup..." It was always, Sacramento is going to call you... Finally got a call a year later, after months of being told "We'll call ya," "We lost your paperwork..." I copied every one of the extensions from the DMV, every inspection piece of paper, CHP, two DMV inspections, vehicle referee inspections, including the Oklahoma state trooper inspection from when my uncle and grandpa got it cleared. A week later, new plates to replace the original CA plates they sent me... They couldn't undo the mess they made with first plates they sent me. So they just started over. TONYA KAY: What do you love about owning your Model A? DANIEL: What do I love about owning Tweety... Other than having a sweet classic car, I think it's how when people see Tweety they can't help but smile. My buddy Seaweed cruised with us on a Hollywood cruise a few years ago. He was following me on his old Harley and afterwards he tells me, "Hey man, I have to tell you that everyone who sees your car smiles... literally everyone." So that's what I love about Tweety: People could be having a bad day and they look up and see that bright yellow and shiny chrome and smile... That's one of the reasons why I like bringing her to work at Universal. I can look out the glass door, see the people on the tram drive by, see Tweety and then see that smile rise above their chin.
