Milwaukee Shows Off New Hand Tools and Packout Goodies

Checking out the latest offerings from Milwaukee.

Recently, I had the opportunity to visit a trade show hosted by Milwaukee Tools. While most of the tools at this show were focused on the electrical trade, I did see plenty of exciting new hand tools and Packout organization options that will appeal to any gearhead. Without further ado, let’s take a look at some of these fresh new goodies.

Milwaukee recently opened up a hand tool factory right here in the USA, and they’re putting out some seriously good tools. For me, the highlight of the new USA-made tools on display were these needle nose pliers. The action was buttery smooth, and the jaw fitment rivaled many tool truck brands I’ve handled. I can’t wait to add a pair of these to my toolbox.

Milwaukee also had this cool display, showing pliers in various states of completion. Naturally, these were housed in a Packout container with a foam insert. Nice!

Another compelling item on display was this new Hole Dozer set, naturally packaged in a convenient Packout case. You’ve probably got some Hole Dozers stuffed on your toolbox – they go on sale pretty frequently – but these new ones are something special. Now, the arbor is a quick-release affair, making hole drilling easier than ever. I’m not sure if I’m ready to upgrade from my current set yet, but these are compelling option for fabricators who make frequent use of their hole saw kit.

Speaking of Packout, I was very excited about two new arrivals on display. First is this update to the rolling toolbox. This one opens into one deep drawer, instead of hinging at the top. This makes storage much easier, since you won’t have to remove upper levels of Packout gear to gain access. I’m pretty attached to my current Packout setup, but this is far more convenient.

Last, but certainly not least (no kidding – this whole setup is around four grand), is this complete set of hand tools, packaged up in a rolling modular Packout setup with foam trays for everything. Sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers – you name it, it’s in here. This would be a great compact setup for a race trailer. Although the price is steep, individual modules can be purchased individually, so you could build up your trackside toolbox over time if you wanted to.

I spent most of the show drooling over this setup. I’ll probably never be able to justify the cost, but man – what a cool concept. At least I can probably afford those nice needle nose pliers I mentioned earlier.
