INDYCAR and FOX Sports Team up for 2025 and Beyond

The news had  been percolating throughout the NTT INDYCAR SERIES paddock and on series-friendly websites over the past month or so. Now it’s official: INDYCAR and FOX Sports have joined forces to make FOX Sports the exclusive home of both the series and its iconic Indianapolis 500 race, starting in 2025 and continuing for several years. As is customary the length of the agreement has not been revealed. INDYCAR has been a partner to NBC and its affiliates for the past 16 years.

This new partnership will give INDYCAR added exposure for its open-wheel racing series, with every 2025 race airing on FOX’s free-to-air broadcast network, as well as being available on the FOX Sports app. FOX Deportes will become the exclusive Spanish-language provider, with a schedule to be announced at a later date.

FOX is also providing coverage of Indy 500 qualifying on both Saturday and Sunday, the weekend prior to the classic event that will be conducted for the 109th time next May. The addition of qualifying shows brings the total number of broadcast network windows to 19, which INDYCAR states is a record for the series. With this agreement, INDYCAR becomes the sole premier motorsport in the United States with exclusive major broadcast coverage for all of its races.

The 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIS season begins with the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg (Fla.) on Sunday, March 2 and concludes with the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix on Sunday, August 31. The 109th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge takes its green flags on Sunday, May 25. The complete schedule for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES was simultaneously released, together with the series’ broadcast plans.

Mark Miles, INDYCAR CEO explained the decision to partner with FOX Sports: “This represents unrivaled exposure and provides an unparalleled growth opportunity for the most competitive and entertaining motorsport on the planet,” he said. “FOX Sports is a fully committed partner, ready to bring engaging and technically innovative coverage to millions of fans across the country, while also promoting INDYCAR thoroughly across all of its platforms.”

FOX Sports CEO and executive producer Eric Shanks was no less effusive about undertaking the partnership with INDYCAR: “Adding the iconic Indianapolis 500 and delivering the entire NTT INDYCAR SERIES to the FOX Sports roster fits perfectly within our model of teaming with sports’ largest events and best-in class brands. We’re honored,” he said, “to be the new broadcast home to ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing,’ an incredibly special event to everyone at FOX Sports.”

FOX has cleared a five-hour window for Indianapolis 500 race day coverage, while the immersive collaboration sees every practice and qualifying session for all NTT INDYCAR SERIES race weekends available on FS1 and FS2 cable networks. The majority of INDY NXT by Firestone races will air on FS1, with FS2 providing supplemental coverage of additional races.

Larry Foyt, A.J. Foyt Racing team president was among the first to salute this new collaboration: “This is fantastic news for INDYCAR. Congratulations to Mark and the entire Penske Entertainment team for putting this record-breaking deal together. It has been great working with everyone at NBC Sports, but having all of the races on network TV should increase our viewership and introduce the amazing racing of INDYCAR to even more sports fans.”

Further information and announcements about on-air talent will be revealed by both parties at a later date.
