Funny Car Chaos Set to Ignite Mo-Kan Dragway’s 61st Annual Labor Day Weekend Classic

Big Power, Wild Funny Cars and Old-School Drag Racing Highlight a Labor Day Weekend Tradition at Mo-Kan Dragway

The Labor Day weekend tradition at Mo-Kan Dragway is about to get a serious dose of horsepower, noise and nostalgia as Funny Car Chaos returns to Asbury, Missouri, for the 61st Annual Labor Day Weekend Classic. Set for September 4-5, 2026, the two-day celebration will bring the wildest side of outlaw Funny Car racing to one of the Midwest’s most historic drag strips.

Funny Car Chaos has built its reputation around one simple philosophy: bring the cars, turn up the power and let them race. The series features an eclectic collection of nitro, alcohol and other high-powered Funny Cars, with racers competing in a format that emphasizes the unpredictable, hard-charging nature of the class. With Mo-Kan’s tight confines and legendary atmosphere, the Labor Day Weekend Classic provides the perfect setting for another weekend of chaos.

Friday kicks off the action with gates opening at 3:00 PM, with the Dirty South Gassers opening the show at 6:00 p.m. Funny Car qualifying is scheduled for 7:00 and 9:00 p.m., giving fans multiple opportunities to see these machines make their first serious blasts down the historic strip. The show also features Wicked Sinsation Jet Dragster that will light up the night at 8:00 PM.

Saturday brings the intensity up another level. Gates open at 10:00 a.m., with class racing beginning at Noon. Funny Car eliminations take center stage at 4, 6 and 8 p.m. Those rounds should provide plenty of opportunity for drivers to make gains in the 2026 Championship Series, with the signature Funny Car Chaos mix of big power, wild body styles and old-school attitude on full display.

The event is also another chapter in the long history of Mo-Kan Dragway. The family-owned facility opened in 1962 and has remained a staple of Midwest drag racing, hosting everything from weekly bracket racing to major nostalgia and specialty events. Funny Car Chaos has become one of the track’s signature attractions, making its Labor Day weekend return a natural fit for a facility built around grassroots drag racing and drag racing tradition.

For fans, the weekend offers more than just a chance to watch Funny Cars. Every ticket is a pit pass, allowing spectators to get close to the cars, teams and personalities that make the event special. Adult admission is $20 for Friday and $30 for Saturday, with children 12 and under admitted free. RV camping is also available for those looking to make a full weekend out of the trip.

For racers, Labor Day Weekend at Mo-Kan Dragway is one of the annual “big ones”. Saturday offers a Hot Rod (footbrake) eliminator along with the showcasing some of the most talented Junior Dragster racers in the country. Sunday is a full slate of bracket racing with hundreds of racers vying to take home a win at one of Mo-Kan’s Crown Jewel events.

As the Funny Car Chaos Championship Tour continues its 2026 campaign, Mo-Kan promises to deliver the kind of unpredictable, high-energy racing that has made the series a favorite among hardcore drag racing fans. With Funny Cars, Gassers and plenty of old-school atmosphere packed into two days, the 61st Annual Labor Day Weekend Classic is shaping up to be another can’t-miss Labor Day tradition at one of the Midwest’s most beloved drag strips.
