There’s nothing like tearing down the strip, pedal to the metal, as you aim for that ⅛ or ¼ mile marker. Drag cars come in all shapes and sizes, from a street to strip beater, to a nostalgia funny car, to a dragster or pro mod and we love them all, along with the stories they tell. This category celebrates the cool and the fast, so check out the timing slips as well as the lines.

"Bought this car in 1980. It was set up for a Mopar engine but changed it over to a BBC. 468cu.in. Tunnel Ram with Chuck Nyutten Carbs. Back then she ran 9.90s with a 4 speed Lenco Trans. I call it RUMnCOKE.
"Most memorable run was at Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove, WI in 1985, when track owner "Broadway" Bob Meztler bought me two cases of beer for not putting the car on the roof. It happened when shifting from 3rd. to 4th. and got sideways using both lanes till she settled down. I believe it was 3 or 4 times. Well, needless to say the frame was bent, so it sat for 30 plus years.
"Married my wife Dianne and raised three wonderful children: Regina, Jimmy and Isela. Well in 2016 my wife told me she wanted to see the car run again as she knew it was my passion. Here's the the sad part - my wife had been ill for the past 15 years and I think she knew her time was coming. Her dream came true and we ran the car in 2018. Dianne passed on Feb. 22nd 2019. She's with me on every run now with her photo on the car.
"Thanks to Ken Hoger of Hoger race cars in Joliet, IL; he made it all possible. Ran a Turbo 400 and went 8.30. Now I'm running a 598cu.in. with an ATI Power Glide Trans. We're shooting for sevens this year. Thanks for sharing!"

"It is NHRA Super Stock Production legal and weighs 3150 lbs. Makes over 800 horsepower. I could not ever imagine selling the car, as it has become part of the family."

"Her name is 'Stella' after my grandma (who never drove a car in her life!). Besides, doesn't every Italian girl from NY NEED a 3,000 HP Cadillac?
"Stella has taken me to win the IHRA Pro Mod Championship. She has also appeared on:
*PowerNation TV with Katie Osbourne
*The NY Auto Show
*The Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in NYC for Fleet Week (Nothing better than watching a Pro Mod cross West side Hwy in NYC!)
*Dobbins Air Reserve
** Her most amazing accomplishments are when she was the focal point for honoring our nation's Armed Forces. There have been many events that we have been proud to be asked to attend!
"One of Stella's best and most cherished features is the hand-written note on the Driver door from none other than Bunny Burkett. It reads:
Set your goals high.
Don’t settle for less.
Do it one run at a time
Be safe & WIN……”
Your friend…… Bunny Burkett 8-2014

My LeMans was my dad's drag racer up until the mid 80's. I inherited it and restored it with tweaks to make it more showable and more streetable. Arnie Beswick traded a pair of Ram Air V heads to my dad back in the day. My dad then fabbed a tunnel ram and headers using exhaust tubing and a stick welder. The car ran low 11's with this set up into the 1980's. I added FAST EFI and completed the interior. The car has been shown all around the Midwest and has won multiple awards. I plan on getting it back onto the race track this year at Great Lakes Dragway in June.
