Chevy Discontinues the 6.2L LT5 V8

GM has discontinued its most powerful crate engine. The  6.2-liter, supercharged LT5 has been pulled from Chevrolet Performance’s website, so the question stands, what will replace it?

The supercharged LT5 has only been in production a few years, so it is unclear why GM decided to pull the plug on the motor. The motor was a rare one comparatively, with only 3,000 examples of the 2019 Corvette ZR1 produced, the supercharged LT5 was for people who wanted to stand out from the sea of LS’s, albeit a much steeper price tag, $20,000 to be exact.

With the 6.2L LT5 V8 engine’s removal, the king of the  Chevrolet Performance crate engines is now

the 6.2.L LT4 V8, which produces 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. Customers can purchase the LT4 V8 through a certified Chevrolet Performance dealer, which they can find via the automaker’s website.
