Car Features: Gilbert Ramirez and his 1965 Ford Mustang

One of the vehicles that caught our eye during the No Shows No Problem Car Show was Gilbert Ramirez' Pro Street '65 Mustang. We recently caught up with Gilbert and he told us a little about how he got into the hobby.
I got into cars at a very early age. My first love and still is the 1966 George Barris Batmobile, I just couldn't get enough of it. My dad was a pilot and he liked fast planes and luckily for us he also had friends that were into Hotrods, Racing cars. I remember he once took us to a friend of his who owned a car dealer and had a unique car on display, that car turned out to be a 69 Mako Shark, that was it my love for cars just kept going full blast. My dad was a gifted artist and we were blessed to have his skills. When the Airbrush started to become popular, my brothers and I bought a very simple one and began to experiment with techniques such as metal flake and candy apple on our cars, with mine being the first ginny pig. We had a good friend who would drag race a 1955 Chevy and I convinced him to let us do some designs on his car, which then turned out to be a full paint job. The car's paint job was a hit and from there on we were doing everything. Body fabrication, Paint, full custom work, Candy apple, Metal flake, Pearls, Murals, and lettering. You name it we did. My brothers and I did this for years but I eventually had to stop as I went on a different venture and career. My brother, however, continued on and is now an expert Body man who still does custom work to this day. I still dab into it every chance I get with my own sons.

-Body massaged, painted red with Candy Apple highlights, the hood received a Pearlescent and Micro flaked Ghost Flame treatment just to give it a little pop!

Car is driven to numerous car shows throughout the year and events and by all means it's definitely not a trailer queen. I love taking her out through my town just so everyone can hear the little lady purr. I love whenever I am at a show and people would come up to my car and talk about what wonderful memories they had with their own mustangs. It's like a little trip into their past to remember the days when Hot Rods were the norm and everyone wanted one. I love seeing my car pop up on social media as people take photos of it when I am out and about. Thankfully being in Florida I am able to stretch her legs more often than not.
