Right from the factory, Dodge’s Challenger SRT Hellcat models are already mean and nasty powerhouses. However, as with any “stock” vehicle, there’s always room for improvement. The easiest and fastest way to improve the horsepower and torque output from any car from the factory is by upgrading the exhaust. Knowing this, Borla Exhaust has leveraged its long history of aftermarket performance exhaust systems to come out with a long tube header system for performance enthusiasts who own Hellcats.
Borla’s new Challenger Hellcat SRT long tube headers are specifically engineered for model years 2015 and 2016 Hellcats with 6.2L and 6.4L engines. They make use of a 1.75 inch primary tube and 2.75 inch collector built from T-304 stainless steel and are designed to work with any exhaust products, but work best with Borla’s ATAK and S-Type muffler technology. This allows owners to choose the volume level and exhaust note desired.
In January of 2016, Borla announced their Cat-Back Exhaust systems for the 2015 and 2016 model year Hellcat SRT. Making use of race-bred and patented ATAK technology, these exhaust products allow owners to choose from a number of different sound options. ATAK technology allows for the highest street legal level of exhaust sound on the market. Even better, you’re not going to annoy your neighbors (much) when driving at lower speeds through the neighborhood.
Borla also announced their S-Type muffler systems, which deliver an even more visceral, throaty sound while keeping the improved performance that Borla is famous for. Under acceleration, the S-Type mufflers give a gnarly throaty roar, but at a more refined, lower decibel level than the ATAK mufflers. Both systems deliver better performance without the annoying drone that many performance exhaust systems saddle us with.
Additionally, Hellcat owners can choose either system with Active Exhaust Valves or Valve Simulators. A Borla valve included in your choice of muffler, Active Exhaust Valves work the same way that Dual Mode exhaust valves from Dodge function by allowing drivers to choose one of two different sound options while driving.
Borla Valve Simulators are similar. However, they’re not operational for off road or racing use. They are designed so that your Check Engine Light doesn’t come on when the exhaust is fitted. Combining these Borla mufflers and valve technologies with the new Hellcat long tube headers gives you the ability to fine tune the sound level and tone and greatly improve your engine’s power output for racing and off road applications.
