A Very Busy, Very Fast, Day at Daytona
I attended the NextEra Energy 250 yesterday, and 12 hours later headed home to warm up from the cold temperatures. At around 9 am it was under 40 degrees and with the wind it sure felt colder than that – this IS Florida right? A lot was happening here yesterday: Sprint Cup practicing, XFinity cars practice, and the trucks didn’t even start on the track until 4:45, and that was only a couple of minutes qualifying in groups. The rules changed so that once a car started to move on pit road you couldn’t stop. This in response to the fiasco with the Cup Cars and Qualifying earlier in the week. There’s no doubt that the new track facilities, grandstands, etc are top notch; really looking good! The infamous DAYTONA Press box/Tower is about to come down, take a browse at the pictures and you’ll see what I mean. Although I needed the bigger lens, it was still was a blast even with the cold, so hope you enjoy them just a little even.
