Mitzi’s Pinup Corner: Meet Pepper Golightly

Greetings guys and gals, dolls and dames!  I am Pepper Golightly of Sacramento, California. I’ve been a local here for over two decades, living all over the greater Sacramento area. Working as a preschool teacher by day, I swing dance, sew, bake and craft by night. Since I can remember, my mother has rocked Bettie Page bangs, and my dad had our house decorated in mid century and Art Deco style. I worked with my father on the front counter of Midway Antiques, which also happened to be where I purchased the blue dress suit I wore when Autorama’s Trophy Girl. My father took me prom dress shopping as a girl, and we both mutually agreed a beautiful red silk halter swing dress from the 1950’s. Then began my journey of collecting vintage clothing and accessories. I have always been more drawn to the real deal and true vintage, as I have been graciously blessed with the figure to fit most items like a glove. Putting them to use in this modern pin up world has given me a platform to express my personality and individuality. Supporting the local ladies is a passion of mine, if they make it, I want it. It’s important to me to empower not just through words but actions; loyalty is earned with friendships. Making sure I show up at competitions to cheer, hyping a lady up before a photo shoot, carry her makeup bag, comment photos, be a listening ear, and encourage future endeavors. Autorama was considerably special for me because I was a former employee of the exposition center it’s held at. Each year, I’d watch the beautiful pin ups walking around like Betty Grable and Jayne Mansfield. Today, they are just as beautiful and incredibly talented as well. I was very nervous, having been my second competition ever! This has been a humbling experience and a wonderful start to this car show season. Thank you, Mitzi, for making it all possible.
