The Coronavirus (COVID-19) is wreaking havoc once again, this time on the automotive world. According to the organizers, the Beijing auto show will be delayed until further notice. Originally scheduled for April 21-30, the event will remain on hiatus until the outbreak of this dangerous virus is contained. Across mainland China, the total number of coronavirus cases rose by 2,048 to 70,548, with 1,770 deaths.

Potential exhibitors from abroad are not allowed to bring freight shipments to China and any travelers with reservations for this event are asked to cancel their plans. Since it started 20-years-ago, the Beijing show has grown to be one of the world’s largest automotive trade fairs and it is now a key launchpad for new product for the world’s biggest auto market.

The show’s postponement is the latest high-profile conference to be shelved because of the coronavirus epidemic and these postponements are not just in China. In fact, the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona was also canceled earlier this month because of this deadly virus.
