This week’s Pinup Pole Show Pinup of the Week is all of us! You see the Pinup Pole Show stars with guest models Sizzling Sweet Pea, Francesca Esker and Kate Bera posing with Ms. Trix’s 1973 Chevy Nova for photographer Shane Karns at Tonya Kay’s Pinup Pole Show. Tonya Kay (me) is wearing Red Dolly Swimwear. Let me tell you more about modeling in groups in this week’s column…
Modeling solo as a pinup is traditional. And typical. We women at Pinup Pole Show are such good friends and are so supportive of each other, we love sharing the spotlight, but group modeling - with classic cars - at a live evening event does present its own set of challenges.
First of all, you’ve gotta have a cool classic car owner who is okay with a gang of girls climbing and propping on their vehicle! For this reason, we normally choose trucks or convertibles for group shots, but Ms. Trix is solid gold - she also brought her El Camino to a show, and she placed her trust in us to go for it!
Check out the slideshow - you can see what a clown car even a badass muscle car becomes when seven women are trying to fit inside!
Luckily, photographer Shane Karns was all-in for figuring out how to nail a few group shots in what was becoming a night shoot very fast. He brought in a portable temp light to see if we could get more of our faces, especially the women in the backseat.
But then there are fuzzy dice blocking Sweet Pea’s face - get’em out of there! Well heck, you can see we ripped off the die! The look of horror on our faces! I offered to sew it back together for Ms. Trix, but she assured me that she can sew it, too, and that it’s really no heartache. Whew.
And with that final correction and the group effort to bring a fun pinup and classic car photo to life, we nailed it! All the women’s faces (mostly) in light! Fuzzy dice cleared and a hidden light source inside the car. And in real time, we figured this all out and shot it out in under 10 minutes. Now that’s a thrilling night of classic car fun!
