One of the three Chevys gracing July is Rick Astle’s red ‘57 Bel Air. An avid fan of the model, Rick located and purchased the car and brought it home. Approximately nineteen years ago, he started the full frame-off restoration.
The drive line begins with a Big Block Chevy motor coupled to a turbo 400 transmission with a Gear Vendor’s Overdrive Unit and rounding off with a twelve bolt Chevy rear end. Rick made a four link rear suspension for the car and installed Wilwood Brakes all around around. He then added Heidts stainless steel control arms on the front end.
With the project coming to a close, Rick was ready to show the car. When asked how the events and shows have gone, he responded, “We’ve traveled all over New England and New York State, going to shows and cruises with no problems at all. The car runs beautifully.”

Rick made a 4 link for this car?
If so good on him, a real car guy…
