Behind the Wheel Podcast Episode 19: Mario Bonfante Jr.

For those who follow this podcast, you may have enjoyed the story of our last guest Brian Hanaford, founder of Adaptive Motorsports, who is doing his part to give hope through the power of motorsports. While Hanaford is an inspiring man, his cause wouldn’t be possible without innovative inventors like our most recent guest, Mario Bonfante Jr. This quadriplegic inventor and race-car driver has dedicated years to helping both himself and other paralyzed drivers achieve more than ever before.

Prior to his current mission, Bonfante Jr. was a passionate two-wheeled racer who enjoyed everything from BMX to Motocross. At the age of 17, Bonfante Jr. crashed his BMX bike while doing some dirt jumps on a practice track near his home. This accident damaged his spine at c5-c6 and left Bonfante Jr. having to find a new way to both live his life and, most importantly, race. After graduating from two wheels to four, the newly born road racer and self-made inventor has found a way to make his dreams, and those of other paralyzed racers, come true.
