Are you one of those people who has spent many nights dreaming of taking laps on track at over 100 MPH, only to wake up to remember that you have a disability that has long left you wondering if this dream would ever be possible? You are in luck, as this is just the Behind The Wheel episode for you.
We recently caught up with a gentleman whose goal it is to make dreams come true for the physically challenged. Adaptive Motorsports Executive Director/Founder Brian Hanaford decided to create this non-profit organization after coming back from a horrific car accident during his freshman year in college that left him in a dark place for 20 years.
After beginning to find the light by helping others, Hanaford was once again thrown for a loop following one of the most alarming days in American history – 9/11. Knowing that this day would inevitably lead to war, Hanaford’s new goal became a mobility campaign that would help amputee veterans find a way to enjoy life again by having an experience to remind them that any dream is still possible.
Click the Soundcloud link below to learn more about Hanaford and how his inspiring organization is changing lives for the better, as well as about an upcoming event that also involves another special podcast guest – Behind The Wheel founder and inspiring paralyzed motorsports star Shane Hmiel (forgive us if the sound on Shane’s interview is a bit low. Gotta love cell phone technology 😊.)
