Katarina “Kat” Moller, a 24-year-old dragster driver from Sarasota, Fla., died Thursday as a result of an accident at Sebring International Raceway. The crash’s cause is currently under investigation by the Highland County Sheriff’s Office.

Moller, who had been racing professionally since 2014, began driving junior dragsters at 11 years of age. She was in her fifth season with Larsen Motorsports and was a graduate student at Florida Tech, following her achievement of a degree in mechanical engineering.

The fatal crash occurred during an exhibition run. The run was the first time Moller had driven the jet dragster she was piloting at the time of the accident.

Moller was well-liked by the racing community in which she participated. Warne Estes, president and general manager of Sebring International Raceway, stated, “We knew Kat well and were big fans of her personality and her driving skill. Sebring International Raceway and the entire racing community are heartbroken.”

CEO of Larsen Motorsports Chris Larsen stated, “Kat has been part of our racing family for five years and we cannot begin to express our sorrow.”

We at RacingJunk send our condolences to the friends and relatives of Kat Moller, and hope the Sheriff’s Office is able to find answers regarding this unexpected tragedy.

  1. So sorry to read this, about such a young and inspiring person.. My thoughts and prayers to Katarina and her family… With God’s speed she is in good hands now…

  2. It is indeed a huge loss to lose such a young up and coming talented race driver and high achieving student, but worse is the void by someone who is remembered by so many, for I’m sure an energetic cheerful personality.
