New Off-Road Racing Platform to Help Replace 2018 TORC Races

Lucas Oil, TORQ, Off road short course

Lucas Oil and a group of Midwest race tracks, including Crandon International Raceway, Bark River International Raceway, and ERX Motor Park, will partner up to offer short course off-road racing.

TORC, the long-standing short course series was known by their fans as the “Most competitive and entertaining short course-off road race” nationwide. And if you ever saw one of their events, it’s easy to see why. Below are some highlights from last year.

So when TORC announced that it will not be holding events for 2018, the short course off-road community was devastated.

Unfortunately, TORC: The Off-Road Championship will not hold events in 2018. We will, however, continue to evaluate future opportunities for TORC. We remain grateful to our drivers, partners, and fans for their support and wish everyone a great racing season.

A sad announcement indeed. A number of Midwest tracks (many listed above) withdrew themselves from the TORQ ranks citing the need to ensure the future of competitive short course racing.

“We very much appreciate the effort that the TORC ownership group has put into the series over the past two seasons,” explained Crandon President Cliff Flannery. “Unfortunately, recent business developments dictate that as a group we must take a different direction in moving toward the future.”

The good news is that Lucas Oil will now be feeding the hungry short course off-road mouths for 2018. The new Lucas Oil Midwest Sportsman Regional Series schedule kicks off with four-weekend championship events, for both the PRO and Sportsman categories, which will compete this season under existing Midwest rules packages. Wrapping up the schedule is the 3rd annual championship event at Crandon. For more information, visit here.
