In the latest edition of our new Behind The Wheel podcast, listeners will meet 18-year-old stock car driver Amber Lynn, who gave the weekend warriors of the Street Stock Division at Bowman Gray Stadium a run for their money this season.
Walkertown, North Carolina native Lynn gained her passion for motorsports from the time she was in diapers. Before she was born, Lynn’s weekend warrior father competed in both the ARCA Racing Series as well as the short-lived NASCAR Sportsman Series. While it is common for young drivers like Lynn to follow in their father’s tire treads, this rising star received a double-dose of racing fuel in her blood thanks to her mother, who has also competed in the SCCA.
After experiencing tremendous success in go-karts, including winning over one hundred races and countless championships, Lynn moved into a full-sized stock car. While gaining experience at tracks like Motor Mile Speedway in Fairlawn, VA, Lynn would eventually move to the home track where she remembers playing under the old wooden bleachers as a child – Caraway Speedway. The 2014 Rookie of the Year winner would continue to compete at this track until 2016. After running at various tracks with her racing family throughout the 2016 racing season, Lynn would eventually have a chance to show those old school boys at historic Bowman Gray Stadium how it’s done.
Tune in below to let Bowman Gray Stadium’s newest Street Stock Rookie of the Year tell you more about how she isn’t letting anyone or anything stop her from achieving her motorsports dreams.
