Baldwin is prepared to hop into the seat of a Top Alcohol Dragster. She will be driving Anthony Dicero’s McLeod Racing/Nitro University dragster at the Route 66 Nationals. At a recent LODRS event in Joliet, the 22-year-old racer from California made it to the semi-final round from the 8th qualifying spot defeating the number 1 qualifier Mia Tedesco in the first round. Baldwin and Dicero plan to continue their success at Route 66 with a Wally on Sunday.
“The last race in Joliet was awesome purely for the fact that my grandpa, Chris Karamesines, came out to watch me race,” says Baldwin. “It was a different dynamic as he was not competing and he helped Anthony and I tremendously with some suggestions for the car. He has over 60 years of experience of driving and tuning these dragsters. I know he is my grandfather, but I am still humbled when he gives me advice about racing.”
“It’s almost like my second hometown race with the Greek side of my family,” says Baldwin about Route 66 Raceway. “I feel like I am making my debut again, but this time, it’s in front of my Chicago friends and family.”
Baldwin will also be hosting the McLeod Racing Dealer of the Race program with USA Performance Parts. The week following the national event, July 11-18, USA Performance will be hosting a 20% discount for McLeod products purchased through them. To receive the discount, shoppers can visitwww.usaperform.com or call (704) 397-7979.
The Anthony Dicero Racing team plan on making all three qualifying sessions to plant themselves high on the qualifying list for Sunday eliminations. The Nitro University dragster is fueled by Lucas Oil, MAHLE, Manton Pushrods, Shelton’s Poultry, Manley, TBM Brakes, Strange Engineering, CP Carrillo, Boninfante Friction, and PXP Racewear.
