Electric Go-Kart Could Change Entry Level Racing

Via MotorAuthority

Bosch, a German multinational engineering, and electronics company have created an all-electric go-kart. Bosch famously makes electric stoves, washers, tools and several other household appliances. They also created their own electric bike the E-Bike. It was only a matter of time before the company set their sights on 4-wheels. The Kart is powered by two electric motors and a 48-volt lithium ion battery that can be topped up with an energy recovering system.  Output for the e-kart is 26 horsepower with a monstrous 220 pound-feet of torque.

The e-kart has been built in conjunction with the FIA and the German Motorsports Association (DMSB) as a proof of concept for an electric karting series. Most professional racers get started in the world of karting, so an electric model could provide a good segue into motorsports should racing move further in the direction of electrification.
