Brainerd International Raceway, the home of the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals on August 20-23, is looking for volunteers to help clear away debris after severe storms with winds up to 70 mph gusts ravaged the road course/dragstrip Sunday evening.
The straight-line winds toppled and twisted a section of bleachers on the dragstrip and ripped the roofs off the press box and track maintenance shop. Many trees were knocked down being strewn around the property.
If anyone is interested in assisting the track with the cleanup, please report to the Brainerd International Raceway main gate for instructions. They are especially looking for individuals with chainsaw experience in aiding the clearing of the camping area. They ask you bring your work gloves, water and snacks to help get the track back into shape. At the moment, power is out closing the main ticket office for regular business.
