Everyone has dreams of ditching the dregs of work, and playing hooky to head to the beach on a beautiful day in a beautiful car. Now, RacingJunk.com is going to help one lucky winner make at least part of that dream a reality by giving away a customized 1953 Chevy Sedan Delivery as the ultimate beach cruiser.
The cruiser build and contest idea came about following the successful giveaway of a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado at the 2014 SEMA show.
“We were ready to tackle a build, and the sedan delivery is a classic,” said Robert Adams, VP of Sales and Marketing for RacingJunk.com. “The ’53 is the perfect size, and the perfect platform to transform a working vehicle into a classic cruiser, and who knows more about beach culture than our partners at VisitMyrtleBeach.com? They were instantly on board to join the fun.”
RacingJunk.com purchased a “gently used” ’53 Sedan Delivery with just a little bit of character (read rust) and a whole lot of charisma in order to turn it into a resto-mod perfect for a day (or more) at the shore. Mock-ups were soon drawn up, and the whole thing was shipped down to Outcast Kustoms in Moorseville, North Carolina for customizer Kelvin Locklear to transform the aqua green machine into a red and white beach delight, complete with surfboards pin-stripped by East Coast Artie.
The biggest non-cosmetic change will be in the engine and transmission, with a Chevrolet Performance Connect and Cruise Package swapping in for the original. Pace Performance, WELD Wheels, and Heidts Hot Rod & Muscle Car Parts are also on board to support and contribute to the build. When finished, the cruiser will be worth approximately $45,000.
The giveaway officially launches nationwide on April 20, 2015 and will run through June 1, 2016. Potential winners can enter online HERE or at one of the events where the vehicle will appear including the Hot Rod Power Tour, the VisitMyrtleBeach.com 300 Xfinity NASCAR Race at Kentucky Speedway, the Good Guys 18th PPG Nationals, Back to the Fifties, the Syracuse Nationals, and the SEMA and PRI trade shows. Entries will also be taken at this seasons’ Super Chevy shows.
The Burnout will be following the build, as well as the Cruiser’s cross-country hi-jinks, so stay tuned for more updates.
