When Dodge ended production of its Vipers in 2010, there was a giant hole left in the performance field. Americans no longer had that infamous snarling V10 to wave at our Trans-Atlantic counterparts anymore, or just at each other. 2012 marked the triumphant return of the Dodge halo car to the world, now with a new philosophy and focus on not only power, but safety. The new Vipers now gives you stability control, traction control, and even ABS brakes, all nonexistent in previous generations. Now, for 2015 the Viper gets lighter, faster, and stronger. The new 8.4 liter V-10 puts out an astonishing 645 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque – the highest torque output of any naturally aspirated sports car engine out there.
Dodge just released a documentary of the new Viper entitled, “Viper: DNA of a Supercar” which highlights every single detail of the all new Viper. Over 3,700 parts come together for each vehicle built at the Viper plants in Detroit. Virtually every component is put together by hand, from the carbon fiber hood, to the hand stitched leather interior; every piece being built is monitored by a human workforce. The documentary really stresses the hand built craftsmanship that goes into each and every one of these vehicles, from the attention to detail, to quality control, and all the way to the Viper team waving goodbye at their works of art on their way to the dealerships.
Dodge will also offer a new unique “1 of 1” exclusivity program for their Viper consumers with their all new GTC model which is a full customization version from the standard Viper. The GTC will offer more than 25 million unique build combinations for the buyer to fully customize their Viper to their liking. The options include over 8,000 hand-painted colors, 24,000 custom stripes, 10 wheel options plus much more. Once the buyer is done tailoring, Dodge will send a complimentary 1:18 scale replica to them to confirm their color selection.
The 2015 Dodge Viper GT will have a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price of $84,995. The GTC custom version features all the content of the original GT, and adds the “1 of 1” program as well as a personalized instrument panel badge, Concierge Service and Viper Ambassador Owners Portal with exclusive content for a MSRP of $94,995. Dealers will start taking special orders in February with production to start for the second quarter of 2015.
