The crankshafts are the same so the rod journals would match. I believe that all small block chevy rods were 5.7 " long , with the exception of the 400 which was 5.565(i think). Only difference was the old small journal vs the large journals.

Again I could be wrong but this is what I have always thought. I know the cranks are COMPATIBLE cause I have taken a 305 crank out and used it in a 350 with no issues( stock motor)

The 305 rods and the 350 rods have the same dimensions. They are both for the 2.100" crank pin and are 5.700" long center to center, but they don't necessarily weigh the same. There are some versions that are heavier and stronger.

If anything other than a stock rebuild, the rod bolts should be upgraded to give more strength.

The 305 rods are thinner in the beam and shouldn't be used for a 350. both cranks are 442 castings but they are balanced different and if a 305 crank was used in a 350 without balancing it you would have a very rough running engine.Bill

Default 305 &350 rods same?

I looked at the rods, and sure nuff the 350 rods are bigger!!! good call.so,it would be best to use the 350 rods? the whole prob is the 350 crank has 2 spun rods and 1 main. so the 2 rods need to be replaced the others look like thay need to be resized. No machine shop around here turns cranks. That is why 305 crank& rods.Just hoping to make things simple.Looks like not going to happen.
