I'm of the opinion that it would respond well to a shorter duration cam
Something around 270 272 on the intake side with .700 lift would be my choice.
If I'm honest, you're running more cam in your 434 in the low nine's than I am running in my 434 at 7.70's.

Leave the cam and heads alone at least for now. You want a converter that stalls about what mine does. Current FTI converter stalls 5900 behind my 11X head 427 SBC. You should ask Greg as he might adjust it a tad due to your weight, but the converter you have is killing it. You won't see much gain from the heads, and might even slow without a converter change. You will not find better customer service from any converter company. And a lot of guys have been running better with his converters. What intake and carb?

1.16 60 ft, 5.29 in the 1/8 at 1850 lbs. And my cam is 285/295 @.050

I'm at 1800lbs w/ 276 282 108LSA 106IC - 6000 stall. 1.10 60, 4.91 1/8th @ 3400DA.
He's shooting for an 8 second ride which would be relatively easy with his current combination. Just have to get rid of that 10 second 60'. He's not buzzing the thing that hard with those gears and tires, up the converter too much and he will be deep back into it at the shift. Why try to match the entire car to a camshaft.

to answer some questions, my heads are ported 227 AFR, with a Brodix 1002 (i think) it does not match the heads exactly, with a 1050 dominator, i did call Greg a couple weeks ago but he had left for that day & i was going to call back after i got back from bowling the nat. in reno well i got a cold and did not pull the converter until this week i called him wednesday & he was on another line & he was suppose to call back did not get that call so i called contentintal and he said to try using a 2 step & try 4400, 4500 or 4600 chip he thought i would pickup a few hundreds so i was about to go reinstall the converter when i saw the recent comments now what? thanks Doug

one more thing one of my heads appears to be leaking water on the exhaust port thru epoxy, that was one reason i thought about the AFR 235cc heads & their new intake manifold, the problem with that they do not stock them & are 6 weeks out! on summits site it said they are the same as a 227 except for 2.12 intake valves?thanks again Doug

Doug, Epoxy in the exh port sounds scary, there's maybe a 1,000 degrees in the exh port and i don't know of any Epoxy that will hold that kind of temp. It needs to be welded if it's the exh port.
