Don't be surprised with pro comp heads this motor is done making power at 6200-6300 rpm..

1 bad part in the balance of these components will make the engine suffer.
We build 383s for drag race and circle track designed to run 8000-8200 RPM.
Good heads, AFR, Dart, RHS, Brodix and Edelbrock are not to bad.

Are you implying that running a 383 over 7000 means it is not cammed right? if yes why? Just a question..What do you consider crappy heads?AFR,pro Comp,Dart?
It all depends, camshaft, cylinder head, intake manifold, carburetor and compression play a huge factor in where the engine will make peak power, and how long it will carry that peak power.

There, fixed it to save arguments.
