Chubby,
The 291 heads can be small or large valve. The larger coming on 302-327 motors dated 67-69. The smaller valves on 350s from 68-69.

The 041 is a small valve head from 68-70.

Remember this, the 291 likely have NO mounting holes for accessories, be sure to check for them. If they are not present, your local machine shop can add them.

I personally would go with the larger valve 291, imo, both heads are just dandy for the street. I sold mine to my buddy for his '69 Camaro, loves them!!
Hope this helps, and feel free to correct me if I am wrong on any of this......I am getting old!

The 041 has 2.02 valves? Have they had some work done on them? I could be wrong, and likely am, but I don't recall an 041 with 2.02 valves. If the 041s are in fact 2.02, I would use them. If neither sets of heads have been to the machine shop yet, it might serve you well to consider buying some aluminum heads to replace them with. I can't imagine a huge cost difference if being used on the street. Good luck.
