Those girdles look tall.Like it puts the bolts a long way off the yoke.Bad leverage.Never did understand why they make those out of aluminum instead of steel. If they were steel I'd use them, aluminum scares me in a driveline. But,like you said.Theories are only worth so much, proven combos are where the truth lies.A good theory and $0.50 can get you a good cup of coffee

olds48 I guess i will have to get you a side pic as you have me confused a little saying the bolt is to tall.. That is the top of the bolt in the pick and it is sitting in a little pocket machined out of the gurdle...
The gurdle wraps the joint perfectly and sits flat on the base of the yoke..

Yeah, you're right. Those girdles are shorter than the ones I've seen.Bolt is still not as low as if it was a strap.Theres nothing wrong with what you got at all.But what did they cost,$20-25?Nice set of Spicer steel straps were $3 that I bought for my 9" a month ago. That's all I'm saying

i need to correct myself, straps or weaker than u-bolts, that is
what came with my strange pinion yoke and what the pro's use,
i was refering to u-bolts but calling them "straps", I was going thru
my manuel to check on axel center line and notice the stock straps,
the u-bolts are much more secure for me, my opinion only.

Shoot it wasn't that cheap.. lol
They are the only ones that make light weight gears so i chose it to try and keep the weight down. My axels alone are just shy of 4 pounds lighter per axel than normal 33 spline axels.
Also alot of people didn't know this but Motive makes the gears for Ford also. So they can't be to bad as Fords all over have gears in them..
But yes their AX light weight brand has been known to come apart thats for sure and it was a concern of mine since i have seen one come apart 1st hand but this is only a 400-450 whp car so i am praying i will be ok..
Shoot who knows if all this light weight stuff even makes a differnce?
