Not to make excuses, but manufacturing is tough ( I am in different industry, same material). Every vendor is TAXED right now, everyone is practicing lean manufacturing, anodizers are taxed, etc... I work in the buisness with a lot of aluminum, stainless steel, forging, etc. Things are not always as they seem- we have every Water-Jet, CNC, forgers, tumblers, etc... running full time. I work in sales, but I know these things because I have to. Many manufacturers are "building per order" instead of having huge amounts of stock sitting around.
I am a huge believer in EXPLAINING UP FRONT THAT there will be a wait. If it is going to take 6 weeks, tell the customer up front!! They will be more understanding & appreciate the truth. Glad you got your parts!!

Rigsby, you are not kidding. My shop is running 10-12 WEEKS on orders. Record sales last month, people calling non stop asking me when they will get the items they ordered last week that they were told would be 10-12 WEEKS.  This in no way is pointed toward the OP, just my .02 cents on Rigsby's post.

Curtis: you are spot-on. This is good though. We could be sitting around waiting for the phone to ring too. I am glad to hear you are doing well my friend. I only mention this perspective for two reasons:
1. Insight from a manufacturers perspective w/US lean manufacturing. Yes, it is "made in America" but it may take some extra time too... consumers VALUE made in America still.
2. The economy is NOT that bad sitting in my chair!! People in America NEED TO HEAR THIS!! Can't always be all doom & gloom. I wish Washington DC would WAKE UP but that is another story/another thread.
