Might find out this weekend. So upset, I havnt' unloaded the car out of the trailer yet. Never heard a motor have a "dinking" noise from the crankcase before. Just bought a Ohio rotation assy 2 years ago. Hope it's not that. Hopefully it's the block, I want as Indian Adventures II block and build a 505 for my Firebird. Wet dreams, haha.

If you can , drop the pan before you pull it...
I had a windage door come aloose one time and the crank ate it,,,made a terrible sound but did no damage to nothing but the pan , just a thought. Paul

Thought about that, but I can't get the motor high enough to get the pan off. Only takes about a hour to get it out anyway. Pontiac's aren't that hard to do, if you have done as many as I have, haha.

Well, I finally got off my dead butt and tookt he motor out and mostly apart. There is not a #2 rod bearing anymore. Doesn't look to hurt the crank or rod to bad. It doesn't appear to have hurt the #1. So that's a good thing. Taking it to the machine shop sometime this week. Now if I can talk the wife into letting me buy the Kaufman block and a set of 4.375 bore pistons and build a 511, I would be OK, haha.
