Custom bike builder Billy Lane's new job.
Custom builder Billy Lane is using his skills while in prison on a vehicular homicide conviction – maintaining Florida Department of Corrections vehicles.
The shop owner who appeared on the Discovery Channel's “Biker Build-Off” was assigned to the corrections motor pool four months ago, according to Florida Today.
He’s serving a six-year sentence, followed by three years of probation, for a 2006 traffic accident in which authorities said Lane, with his blood alcohol at twice the legal limit, crossed a double-yellow line to pass another motorist and hit an oncoming biker head on, killing him.
A judge also ordered his driver's license suspended for life, along with random drug and alcohol testing after his release from prison.

i liked billys work.i thought he had it goin on at the time.but i dont feel sorry for him at all.seem him at daytona bike week in i think it was 05, he was feeling pretty good then.later in 05 a 71 yr. old woman made a left in front of me. left me cripp;ed up and in pain for the rest of my life.being a biker that fool should have known what could happen.and it did. he hit a guy on something like a moped.

I saw him a few years out in Sturgis, was a nice guy but I think the partyin lifestyle too over his life. he had multiple DUI's in different states before the accident happen. he was passing cars on a 2 lane highway at reckless speeds and basically ran over the guy head on. he was driving a big dodge ram dualley that was given to him by chrysler so as you can imagine the guy on the moped had no chance. to top it off the guy on the moped was drunk too, but was in his lane when billy hit him head on.
