Default Cam help

I bought a car with a 383 SBC motor and like a dumb ass i did not get the cam info to see if it is solid or hyd.I pushed on the rocker to see if there was any movement to see if it was hyd or solid. No travel.Any other ideas without taking off the intake to see.

You could bump it over like you were going to set the valves and check for lash. When the exhaust valve just starts to open check the intake valve on that cylinder. There should be noticeable lash between the rocker and valve tip if it is a solid. Try about a .015" feeler gauge and see if it slips in.

Or you could try to colapse the lifter with the adjusting nut.You should definitely be able to tell if it is a hydraulic lifter.Only downside is you will have to readjust that valve but big whoop.
