Default Dart and MSD

A friend has a Dart SHP SB Chev. he is using an Edelbrock air gap manifold and an MSD Distributor # 8361, also using a big block oil pump. The distributor shaft is 3/8" too short to engage the pump. Dart and MSD do not have a definite answer to the problem other than a BB oil pump may be the problem. MSD suggests using an adjustable collar distributor, but might this hamper the oiling?
My friend needs help.
Thanks, Tom

Don't use the BBC pump. Call Melling tech and they will recommend the correct SBC pump for your project. The slip collar MSD distributor is a good idea for any build. It allows you to align the vertical groove on the distributor body with the passenger oil galley going to the lifters, so there is no internal leakage.
