Shut up already and worry about your deal. You keep shooting yourself in the foot. It is really clear that between midsouth and burnskustoms that they tell great things about what they own with zero proof. Let the chips fall where they may. You will come out looking good, IF you keep on point.

all the crap in this thread could have been avoided if everybody buying would do there do diligence( do your damn research) I own these books and would strongly recomend anybody dealing in buying or selling buy a set one for stamping & one for castings. all this crap could have been avoided http://motors.shop.ebay.com/dale_wil...911.m270.l1312

Did anyone count the number of freeze plugs on the side of the block? A 400 + .030 = 406 will have three freeze plugs per side all other small blocks have only two. Also a 406 is external balanced and should have an external balance dampener and flexplate. Should be easy enough to tell by getting underneath the van. You do have a floor jack and some jackstands don't you?

Balancer is the dead give away unless they claim it is an aftermarket crank balanced internally.
If you can read them I always look at the casting number of the block.
