In a mud racing situation i am thinking it would be better starting in second gear,is this a good idea or not.Do i have to build the trany different for this type of use :?

id pick up a rachet shifter like the b&m truck shifter and put a nasty shift kit in it stage 2 should be fine and shift into second after you run outta first gear....that how ive always done it in my mud rigs

Actually that's what a lot of the modified cars and even some of the blower cars do. They used a turbo 400, but only use 2nd gear.
Not shifting is always faster

i guess it depends on the mud race all the mud drags we have here if you start in 2nd you aint making it far unless you making a good amout of power....our mud drags are more like mud bogs 300' pit full of waist deep slop so id say it depends on the situation and mud your running in
