The cam that is in our 555 is a Reher Morrison uses. It is an Erson custom ground cam. Duartion is 284/298 and lift is 808/765 at 112 center. It will be a 7/4 swap set up. Your cam could be a little bigger but is a decent application.

Your heads may want to see a little more RPM to work the motor. I am sure Dave is suggesting more RPM at the shift point for this reason. Even at 7000-7200 that is conservative for that head. What size header are you running? I would think the 2 3/8" should be what is on it.
I run the same cam Shawn does its a very good cam. Shawn caught onto my rpms with them heads they do like the rpm's and will help that motor.

Default chip

thanks for all of you that respond. i understand what all of you are doing. the headers are the edelbrock 2 1/4 dia. a lot has changed in the last 12 yrs, wow. this combo at the time was pretty impressive in 1995 when i built it. through a series of unfortunate occurrences, wreck and hurricane, we are just going again. ran the car 1/8 mile only at koc races 4 times. this was more a torqe combo than high rpm. thats why we went with the super mod port, for the torque. shafiroff recommended the 7000 rpm max. good bottom end, lunati pro crank, oliver rods[sorry david] lol and weisco pistons. 3.89 was to help lower the rpm. looks like we ll need a gear and converter change to run wiyh yall big dogs. at rebuild time if everthing is good i ll take it out to the 598.thanks all

My motor is a 4.5x4.5 also. We have a 598 in another dragster and the 572 runs faster.

Default 572

What timing do you run on both engines? Does the 572 make more power or is there a difference in the two chassis? What stall are you using, thanks, TC

We have found our motors don't like a whole bunch of timing around 32-36. One is a mullis one is a miller, both 4-link. Around 5500.
