Adding a snorkle scoop on top of a cowl scoop may look funny, but it's extremely effective. Air enters the snorkle scoop and travels over the top of the carb to the rear of the cowl and back fwd again. This tornado type swirling of the air creates a low pressure area above the carb. This helps siphon any unatomized fuel up out of the intake charge therefore eliminating a rich condition at high speeds.

Just curious Josh, does the carb or carbs have a fresh air pan on top of the carbs or does all that work go into an open engine bay?

Zip.

You guys are just Jealous of my Awesome hood.... J/K

That monstrosity of a hood cleared a 540 with blower, dual carbs and a bug catcher!!!

Tod thats extremely creative!!!

FLA your hood looks 1000% better than this one!

Thanks for the kind words about the car, I am pretty happy with it except for the hoods. The other is a cowl hood cut out for the blower, so they are both useless to me...

Default Hood

The design was called a Dolphin Scoop I think. Probably designed in Miami by a disgruntled fan. It worked well with an air box under it. Definitely not the best looking scoop, but a friend sold it to me cheap off his Camaro. Putting it on my car really improved the looks of his car.

i was thinking what i think Zip was driving at..without the Air Box channeling the Air, you could possibly have Air turbulance that could actually take air away from the carb..too much of a good thing i guess...
