a .850 lift cam and he was the fastest on gas he ran 9:91,
only motor, you can see his car on a web site that did his front end 8)

Thats a scary thought, granted I'm sure he did the math but I bet that motor didn't live long running on pump no matter how much static compression he lost due to the huge bump stick and he had notrous too?
Wow talking about pushing the limits. JMO Cp

yea cpex, when you ask these guys if they drive it on the street they
say "I drive it all over never have heating or any other problems"
so I don't ask anymore, but too much lift for me. By the way, that
nova that john cunningham built sold on this site for 45k and the motor
has not been hurt, with spray it runs in high 9's, nice car, mini tubbed
aslo note that on the pump gas drags, they have to drive their cars
to each state and drag strip in the car they brought, no trailers 8)

I will answer your question with a question! Why? If you start running 9's you are going to spend big bucks that you don't have to spend running 10's! Examples: Firesuit, engine diaper, parachute, licensing and medical exam just to name a few! My 1971 RS Camaro is certified but I have no intentions of running it in the 9's with a small block. It has ran 10.03 at 133 and that is just fine! Maybe you don't race were the temperature gets up to 110 degrees on race nights but when it does racing is not fun! :?:  8)

in my opinion the fire suit and engine diaper (cheaper one) is a not a bad idea for any class or test and tune guy to have and wear..

fire and skin don't mix and oil and tires don't go well either.

JMO this is common sense, I know that wearing a lot of safety equipment is uncomfortable, especially when the temperature and humidity is high, but we owe it to ourselves and families to protect our lives and well being to the best of our ability. OK i'll get off the soapbox.

AMEN too that, hehe, not getting off the soapbox suicidebomb, absolutely if you don't have the clothing don't get a fire in the kitchen.

But in reality it's easy to run in the 9's with a rat motor at 3300 lbs. i just put together a 477" no nitrous, 1050 dom. on gas in a 3700lb car it went 10.44 3rd. pass and 10.40 on the 5th pass down the track, but with a much smaller cam .722 lift.

nos is cheap power and can cost you parts. better to build horsepower on the motor. its much cheaper in the long run.
