Default which cylinder heads for a 421

wondering which cylinder heads i should use for my 421 i have a set of track 1 heads but the intake runners are small.for the cost of porting i could buy a set of heads that will flow

If you want a quality 23˚ head call Chad. He can set you up with the castings and runners that will suit what you have best, and the best head if you want to maintain your current rocker hardware.

It depends on how much someone charges for porting, for what I charge to port heads porting your heads is more economical.

We have a pump gas 421 in shop and are going to use the AFR 220's and we are looking for a low 600 number on the dyno.

I built a friend a 13:1 421" SBC and used PRO TOPLINE/RHS 235 aluminum heads with no porting. .690" lift cam.

At 2850# it runs 5.90s in 1/8.

You almost need offset rockers on intake valves with these heads, but with adjustable guide plates you can manage no offset if you accept a slight off center on the valve stem. No problems in 2 seasons.
