1983 305 engine
I have a 1983 /305 engine and it will not start,it has good compresion,good spark and it is getting fuel ,it is not getting
any suction thru the carb and the timming is right on the money,I
am at my wits end can some one please help me find out why it wont
start or even fire .

Ok help us out is this a rebuild or you trying to restart a engine you had :?:

Sounds like a timing chain. Does it backfire? Is the distributor spinning? Did you check the compression on all cylinders or a couple?

Didn't the 305's come with nylon timing gears ? Seems the high miler's always wore out the teeth, thus easily jumped time.

Lobes wore down on the cam & yep a nylon gear.
